Mental power

When the brain is engaged in the thought- process it leads to the increment of same kind of natural randhras (pores) in its gross part. When we dissect the human body after death, we find that if it is that of an intellectual person, the brain is larger and has more grooves than that of ordinary people. The greater the number of grooves, the wider the size of the adipose tissue which lies close to the thought-process. Similarly, the gross part of the body and the brain can be increased in size by means of physical exercise. Hence, those who wish to improve and develop them should exercise the thought process on a daily basis. This will also lead to the rapid improvement of other natural processes, producing corresponding betterment in our physical and mental development at greater speed and with more effect. This process should follow a definite course. Once it has run its full course, our mental faculty will be improved to such an extent that our ability to deal with ordinary questions of life will be more effective than before.

We should do well to remember that the task-master or pay-master is stern and a just being to everybody. He gives his or her deserved share, not a penny more or less. If a person wishes to be paid in the divine currency, they must engage in deep thought. An inquirer should first of all find a book written on the subject of his inquiry. It should be a book written by a person who is accepted as an authority on the subject and which contains new and profound ideas. As soon as you lay your hand on such a book you should read the first two or three lines slowly and mull over them deeply. The time you spend on cogitation must be twice the time spent on studying it, because the goal of reading is not just to gather and grapple with new thoughts and methods. It should be an exercise directed towards the reinvigoration of the thought process. You must spend at least half an hour everyday at this exercise. To a beginner, even the time span of quarter of an hour may prove tiresome. What you have to do is to bring to bear on the subject the full force of your thought. It is in its very nature a tiring exercise like lifting a heavy weight.
