Harm out of desperate thought

There was a man who was always engrossed in desperate thoughts. He was of the view that the work in hand was not possible to fulfill even though it was obvious that it could be accomplished quite easily. Although he was capable of going somewhere, he held himself back thinking that the journey was beyond his capacity. The friends around him were good and they were willing to help him by all means but as soon as difference of opinions developed among them on some minor points he was in the habit of jumping to the conclusion that they were actuated by usual evil motives, that they were hypocrites and that they had no intention of coming to his aid in times of need. As regards the question of making money was concerned, he had a settled conviction that the job in hand is not going to make money.The work looked profitable but in point of fact everything was designed to cause him financial loss. Conquest of evil thought

Although to think good is a simple task, we tend to avoid it. The reason for it is quite simple: we have fallen into a habit of thinking evil instead of thinking good. If an orchard is covered with weeds, good fruit-bearing plants do not get any chance to flourish. But if the cultivator is wide-awake and smart enough, he will dig out all those weeds and throw them away. Because the orchard of our mind is covered with evil thoughts, good thoughts are unable to find room for growth. Under the circumstances, our task is to get rid of the rank growth of weeds so that good thoughts may get a chance to strike root and grow luxuriantly. the roots of big trees lie deep, whereas weeds have superficial roots. We may liken evil thoughts to weeds and good thoughts to fruit-bearing trees. As Lord Krishna has said in "The Gita", "Sin is like a piece of dry wood and knowledge is like fire".
