Way to the mental health



Mental weakness leaves every job only half done. Prescribed below are some of the time-tested methods for restoration of the mental health. The first requirement is sound physical health. To maintain sound physical health, it demands regular meal time. It also postulates a regular time-table for all other activities. For example, we should rise early in the morning three hours earlier than the usual sunrise (Brahmamuharata). We should bath and perform other bodily function according to well defined schedule. It should include the time allocated for the physical exercise, morning walk, meals and sleep etc. If performed regularly all these activities will have favorable impact on the brain. Tamoguni or Rajoguni types of food that cause a decay in the strength of the brain should be discarded. Intoxicants, in perticular, the peace in the mind by shedding off passion, anger, avarice and so on. And to be successful, evening prayer, pranayam (breathing exercise) and hold on to the virtues like compassion, benevolence and so on are essential.

Besides, the following postures will also be equally beneficial - to stand erect throwing your head as far back as possible (this posture raises up the chest and abdomen); to stand on your head supporting yourself along the wall. If you regularly practice the postures, it will give strength to the chest, the neck, the heart,  the arms, the backbone etc. In other word it strengthens your whole body. The above-mentioned part of the body have important nerves, which performs miracles. A weak spinal cord results in a weak brain because it houses those nerves, which strengthen the brain. They also strengthen the digestive power of the body and help strengthen other parts of the body.

In the middle of the neck lies a gland, which is called the thyroid gland, if pressure is applied to this gland several parts of the spinal cord and the brain are affected sharply.
